Program: Sustainable Environmental Management
Year of study: 3rd year
High school or other academic institutions attended: Fletcher’s Meadow Secondary School
Reason for choosing program: I chose this program because of my 11th Grade science teacher who inspired me to act upon my interest in saving the environment. I developed an interest in nature due to a long-standing family tradition of visiting Trent Severn Waterway in the summer. Upon being exposed to the deep bodies of water and nature, I developed an early appreciation for it. I chose York specifically because I was attracted to the ability to specialize in different areas.
Intentions for the future: I aim to participate in projects, research and education efforts related to the field of energy with water, aquatic life and plants as secondary interests, which I hope to build upon in the process. I aspire to be an active participant in sustainable projects and volunteer with different organizations as I have a knack for learning new things in different areas.
Favourite part of the program: I love that we’re a small faculty because it makes the program feel like one big classroom. We all know each other or are, at least, familiar with each other so no one is ever left out. It’s easier to connect, chat, build classmate-ships with others and develop good relationships with your professors. The community’s staff and educators are also very friendly, kind and approachable.
