Program: Sustainable Environmental Management
Office Hours:
Tuesday 1:00pm-2:00pm
Year of study: 4th year
High school or other academic institutions attended: Bishop Marrocco/Thomas Merton C.S.S.
Reason for choosing program: I have always had a passion for the environment, but my interests lie in a wide range of topics. Therefore, when I saw how interdisciplinary this program is, I knew it was perfect for me!
Intentions for the future: I'm not entirely sure of what my intentions are for the future in this particular field and I am open to any opportunities that come my way! That being said, after graduation I hope to study film acting in a four-month intensive training program in a film acting school here in the city. I also plan on moving to Edinburgh, Scotland sometime in the near future (hopefully!) and maybe continue my studies with a master degree in Environmental Studies.
Favourite part of the program: My favourite part about the program is how diverse the topics of study are, but also how interconnected they are. Therefore, if there is a specific topic that you are particularly interested in, you can almost always connect it to the topic of the course. For example, my interest is in Indigenous perspectives on sustainability and Indigenous knowledge systems, and in almost all my classes, I have been able to focus my assignments on connecting this topic with the topic of the class. Not only does this allow me to further my research on Indigenous knowledge systems, but it also allows me to make connections between this topic and the course content, building and strengthening my knowledge. However, if you are unsure of your topic(s) of interest (as I was in the beginning too!) that's completely fine! This program covers so many topics and angles of the climate crisis that you're bound to discover one that sparks your interest!
