To enrich the academic experience and cultivate meaningful real-world connections, the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change (EUC) at York University is pleased to announce the launch of its Co-op Program, open for enrollment commencing in the Fall of 2024.
Declare Your Co-op Adventure from Day One: Arriving students will have the opportunity to declare their intention to participate in the co-op program right from the start of their academic journey.
Career Readiness Prep Course: To equip students with the skills and knowledge for a successful co-op transition, students will take Professional Development for Co-Op Students, an online asynchronous course (ENVS/COOP 2001) launching in the Fall 2024 term. Students will take this course as part of their courses for their first year of study.
Paid Positions Await: Co-op positions shall be paid positions. This will allow students to gain invaluable experience while being compensated for their contribution.
Diverse Work Environments: Students will have the opportunity to work with different employers during at least two work terms, gaining exposure to diverse work environments with their chosen field.
Degrees with Distinction: Upon successful completion of the co-op program, students will earn a degree that reflects their commitment to experiential learning - BES, BA and/or BSC with Co-Op, setting students apart in the job market.
The Co-op Adventure: Student co-op experiences will become an ongoing part of their academic journey, providing students with the chance to integrate their classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience throughout their degree. By the end of the degree program, students will have completed at least 2 separate periods of work for a total of 12 to 16 months of work experience. Each example below is meant to serve as a guide for potential co-op work and study sequences.
EUC is dedicated to providing students with a holistic educational experience that seamlessly integrates theory with practical real-world experience. EUC’s Co-Op Option will empower our students to make meaningful contributions as changemakers and become more career ready for graduation.
