Raju Das' book on Marx’s Capital, Capitalism and Limits to the State: Theoretical Considerations (2022) was given The Distinguished Achievement Award in Political Economy for the Twenty-First Century by the World Association for Political Economy.
Giuliana Racco, ES PhD candidate, won the first BMW Group Award for Social Sustainability at the 30th edition of the International Short Film Week Regensburg 2024. High Roads, colour, single channel video, 19′ Year: 2023.
Over 300 high-school students attended the inaugural EUC Green Career Fair in partnership with the Green Career Centre (GCC). This event had green employers connect with interested students and promote sustainable career opportunities.
John Lau (MES ‘19) was named in this year’s York U Top 30 Under 30. John is a senior advisor at the Ontario Energy Board’s Energy Transition Department, leading projects focused on natural gas sector decarbonization & net-zero emissions.
EUC appoints Dr. Ahmed Abu Shabanas its first True Scholar from July 2024 to June 2025. As a professor and dean at Al-Azhar University in Gaza, Palestine, Dr. Abu Shaban brings over 15 years of academic experience. He has worked extensively in Palestine and internationally, focusing on programs that empower vulnerable groups economically.
EUC's Roger Keil & Linda Peake were recognized for their academic and creative achievements over the past year at the 2024 Research Awards Celebration. Associate Prof Sheila Colla was also awarded the President’s Research Impact Award (PRIA).
GIS Day 2024, a hybrid event that explored the world of Geographic Information Systems. Did you know, York U’s Geography program ranked among the Top 100 Geo programs worldwide and Top 5 in Canada? (Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2024)
This year’s York University Alumni Awards recognizes Alia Abbas (BA ‘13, MA ‘17) who received the Tentanda Via Award for demonstrating innovation, leadership and success.
EUC welcomed 60 high school students and teachers for the Urban Solutions Design Thinking Case Competition and the SHSM Design Thinking Case Competition.
To enrich the academic experience and cultivate meaningful real-world connections, EUC announced the launch of its Co-op Program. Students can declare their intention to participate right from the start of their academic journey.
