Eco-Monitoring Field Lab

Description

Students become immersed in applying environmentally principled theoretical concepts with laboratory experiments. These labs may take place in York University’s woodlots, parks, river sheds, green roofs, or conservation areas. Students apply these methods to gain insight into environmental change while engaging with faculty members and peers.

  • Water quality testing.
  • Vegetation and soil sampling.
  • Habitat and ecosystem assessment.

Faculty Involvement

EUC faculty members engage with students and provide supervision to facilitate knowledge building and skills development.

Partner Involvement

Grant access to sites and equipment, offer field data and logistical support and co-lead lab sessions and provide ecological insights.
