Co-op Program

What is Co-op?

Our Co-op Program (EU/COOP 2001) offers EUC students a blend of academic learning and practical work experience. By alternating between full-time study and paid work terms, students gain valuable skills for future careersfinishing the program with 12-16 months of work experience. Eligible students in Environmental Arts and Justice, Sustainable Environmental Management, Cities, Regions, Planning, or Global Geography, with 48-60 credits, will develop field-specific knowledge and employability skills..

Enrollment in EU/COOP 2001 3.00 requires 2nd year standing and completion of 48-60 credits. Students are only eligible to officially enroll in the Co-op Program after receiving a Passing grade in EU/COOP 2001. Students must maintain good academic standing with a GPA of 5.00 on the 9.00 scale (or 2.00 or higher on the 4.00 scale) throughout the program.

Yes, Co-op will extend your academic studies by 1-year to complete the required 12-16 months of employment. You cannot complete any Co-op work terms in your final year of studies

Upper-year students may not be eligible for co-op if they do not have enough credits remaining to meet all of the requirements to complete the program. However, the Experiential Education Office assesses student applications on a case-by-case basis, so please reach out to us!   

EU/COOP 2001 3.00 has standard tuition fee with a course fee of $200 to cover personalized portfolio services for students and program administration.  

The work term courses EU/COOP 2109 and EU/COOP 3109 are 0 credits courses that do not have tuition. They have $500 course fees to cover customized career support and supervision.  

No, work terms require full-time availability. This gives real-world immersion into the workplace and ability to complete the required 420 hours of work over the course of 4 months.

Yes! However, international students will need to apply for a Co-op Work Permit. Please contact the Experiential Education Office as soon as you are admitted into the Co-op Program. We will assist you in this process to ensure you are ready to enter your work term.
