Virtual High School Lecture: "Geographies of COVID-19 in a New World Order: Migration, Containment, and Waiting" with TDSB Virtual School

December 1, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am

The Recruitment and Admissions team invite the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Virtual School to connect with us for our virtual high school lecture "Geographies of COVID-19 in a New World Order: Migration, Containment, and Waiting" by Prof. Jennifer Hyndman.

This talk will introduce, define, and illustrate two main concepts, globalization and balkanization, within the context of COVID-19. While COVID is a global pandemic, our responses to it are much more national, provincial and even local, creating a patchwork of outcomes. We will explore why the scale of analysis and how the governance of COVID (what public health, law, and guidelines are generated to manage the coronavirus) are important to managing the virus, and how the body politics of wearing masks has emerged as a pressing issue.

This is a closed event.

Interested in booking a virtual lecture for your high school group? Check out our High School Outreach programming.
