Description: This course examines political, economic, cultural, and environmental change in Asia-Pacific societies (such as China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and the Philippines). Emphasis is placed on understanding both historical and recent experiences in the context of regional and global processes. A consistent theme will be to identify the people and places who are the winners and losers in ongoing transformations.
