
Description: The course examines the societal and geographical implications of new technologies, including digitalization, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things. Students address the economic and financial geographies of technological innovation and analyze techno-economic trends emerging from: the growth of personal data; the deployment of machine learning and AI; and the expansion of surveillance / platform capitalism. Format: blended/online (if blended, then students should expect to spend 2 hours online and 1 hour in class)
