Max Koch

Max Koch

Max Koch is a Professor of Social Policy and Sustainability at Lund University. The ongoing theme of his research has been the ways in which capitalist restructuring impacts the environment, welfare, wellbeing and the social structure. His recent publications have addressed issues of ecological sustainability, particularly climate change, sustainable welfare and degrowth/postgrowth. He also carries out research on synergies and conflicts across environmental, social and economic policies. Currently, he is PI in the interdisciplinary project "Postgrowth Welfare Systems", researcher in the project FLYWELL and finishing the book 'Deep Transformations: A Theory of Degrowth' (forthcoming in Manchester University Press with Hubert Buch-Hansen and Iana Nesterova). He has published two papers on "Degrowth and the state" in Environmental Politics and Ecological Economics.
