Named in memory of dian marino: artist, activist, educator and former EUC faculty member, and with a dedication to a sustainable future and a strong belief in the transformative power of arts, Wild Garden Media Center is an environmental initiative where art is a catalyst for ecological change. In order to do so, we proudly provide gallery spaces at the Health, Nursing and Environmental Studies Building, York University, where creativity and sustainable visions intersect. Our galleries welcome all artists, especially those from the university community, who are passionate about creating positive change. Here, we vision galleries beyond merely showcasing, but also a platform of knowledge and vision sharing as well as collaboration. We offer workshops, talks, and events that encourage meaningful interactions, fostering a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between art and the environment.
Join us at Wild Garden Media Center as we embark on a collective journey to inspire, challenge, and reimagine our connection to the natural world.

Eco Arts and Media Festival
First launched in 1994, the Eco-Arts and Media Festival is an annual week-long series of events in acknowledging, sharing and appreciating environmental and social justice perspectives.
Check out below to learn about our festivals in the past few years.
2023 - 27th Eco Arts & Media Festival - Mending
This year’s festival, titled “MENDING,” will examine how art and art-making can be a catalyst to repairing relationships with the self, with others and with the world around us. MENDING encourages attendees to explore ways in which repairing those relationships can foster a more sustainable and just approach to tackling the environmental crises, systemic challenges and social inequity in our everyday lives.
2022 - Eco-Arts & Media Festival - Fracture
This year’s festival, FRACTURE, will take place online and in person and will examine the restorative phases after disruption. This year’s theme invites conversations across disciplines that consider pedagogical, environmental and artistic approaches to the concepts of rupture and wreckage and how humanity and the environment can heal and progress in the aftermath.
2020 - EcoArts & Media Festival - Pollination
This year’s festival takes up an expansive theme of “Pollination,” including the biocultural importance of pollinators to the ecosystem and recognizing pollination in terms of the exchange of knowledge and ideas. This theme invites facilitated conversations across disciplines, to create writing, performances, workshops and artworks that consider pedagogical, environmental and artistic approaches to the concepts of exchange, care, trade and sharing. The artists, scientists, students and academics participating in the festival will expand on how speaking across disciplines and exchanging ideas creates new ways to consider issues of colonialism, land rights, environmental degradation and the ongoing effects of climate change.
