StudentDwell+: Reimagining Student Housing

StudentDwell+: Reimagining Student Housing

StudentDwell+: Reimagining Student Housing is a three-day event from May 1-3, 2019 that is taking place at York University. The goal of StudentDwell+ is to bring together an interdisciplinary group of experts including academics, students and practitioners to advance and disseminate knowledge on student housing; create new research collaborations across disciplines, sectors, and geographies; and activate a research partnership into action. The initiative will provide an opportunity to release the findings of StudentDwellTO which is an 18-month interdisciplinary research partnership commissioned in June 2017 by the Presidents of all four Toronto universities (OCAD, Ryerson, York and University of Toronto) to take an in-depth look at student housing in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). StudentDwell+ will complement and strengthen StudentDwellTO's activities by advancing and mobilizing knowledge on student housing, creating new cross-sectoral connections, and enhancing student training. While the geographic focus of StudentDwellTO is on the GTA, StudentDwell+ will facilitate inter-city comparison by presenting and contrasting  cases from Canada, the UK, the United States, Denmark and India. Funding: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) $24,986.
