A new era of environmental governance in Canada: From Promise to Implementation

The research explored substantive and political rationales for environmental assessment and public participation mechanisms in decision-making. The resulting report, which is part of Metcalf's Green Prosperity Paper Series, presented recommendations for reform with respect to the federal environmental assessment process, and broader issues related to governance for sustainability including public participation in decision-making, access to information, and the role of the Federal Sustainable Development Act.
